2017 OFSAA Cross Country Champion!

It is a very small percentage of high school students who qualify to compete in an OFSAA event. Just to qualify puts student-athletes into an elite category. This weekend, grade 9 student Emma Gosselin competed at the OFSAA cross-country meet in Petawawa. Emma competed against 275 other runners from 19 different regions in Ontario. Needless to say, the competition was fierce. The race obviously got off to a very fast star, each runner intent on pulling ahead to be well positioned on the course. At the halfway mark, coming down a hill, the best of the best were out in front, with Emma in third place, close behind the second place runner, a competitor Emma had defeated in each race during the regular season. As the racers approached the finish line, Emma had a narrow lead. Emma stayed strong and determined right to the end. In a photo finish, it was Jean Vanier's own Emma Gosselin who became the 2017 OFSAA cross-country champion! Absolutely amazing Emma! When you see Emma today, make sure to congratulate her on this outstanding accomplishment. Way to go Emma!
