Welcome to the 2018-19 School Year
Published on Sep 3, 2018 16:28

Welcome to all our families, both returning and those new to our community, to the 2018-19 school year. Our staff members have been working very hard to ensure that the school is ready for our students. We are happy that you have chosen a Catholic education for your child and we hope that you always feel at home at Jean Vanier Catholic High School.

It was wonderful to see so many of our Grade 9 students at the Orientation Day last Wednesday. We have had some new registrations since that date and have had to make some changes to the Grade 9 schedule that may result in a different timetable than our grade 9’s saw at Orientation. For all grades, please see the lists posted in the main hallway and proceed to your homeroom where you will be given your finalized timetable.

As we begin our new school year there are a few important dates and details that we would like to make you aware of:

Main Office Hours 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

School Day: School Day is an online system for making payments for school products, student activity fees, field trip permission forms, Parent-Teacher Inteview sign-up, and much more. Thank you to the families that have already signed up last spring. For those that have not, you should receive a form (through your child) with all the info you need to sign up. Please sign up as soon as possible.

DGN Uniform Store @ JVA: Hours of operation are Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM. To contact the uniform store, please call 705-445-2043 ext 120. School Uniforms can also be purchased by:
- visiting Simcoe DGN-Kilters store at 132 Commerce Park Dr., Unit D in Barrie
- ordering online at www.dgn-kilters.com
- calling 1.800.437.5872

Catholic School Community Council:  We have scheduled the first CSCC meeting for September 19th, at 5:30 p.m. You can download the Nomination Forms here, or on our website under the “For Parents”  top menu tab. Nominations can also be made at the first meeting.

On behalf of Ms. Vellinga and myself, we look forward to working closely with parents, students, staff and community members to ensure that this is an exciting, fulfilling, and rewarding year for all of our students.

God Bless,

Mr. John Collingbourne                              Ms. Christy Vellinga
