Dear parents and guardians,

Jean Vainer Catholic High School students and staff will be collecting shoe boxes for Samaritan Purses from Thursday October 18th, till the last collecting day which is November 8th. The idea around Samaritan Purses shoe boxes is to give kids from developing countries around the world (aged 2-14) that are living in war, poverty, and disaster. supplies they need or gifts for Christmas. Here are a few details regarding what you need to do that you need to know: fill an averaged- sized shoe box (students can find these boxes in Mr. Pickett's class room 211, students will be coming around to classes promoting this, and lastly there will be extra boxes in the chapel) with small gifts, and affix a completed Boy or Girl label to each box. Some gift suggestions include: toys and other gifts such as dolls, soccer balls (with needle and pump), stuffed animals, socks, hair clips, cars, musical instruments,  puzzles, jump rope, ect. School supplies such as pencils, pens, crayons, pencil crayons, notebooks, coloring books, ect. Non- liquid hygiene items such as toothbrush, bar soap, washcloths, combs, ect. Personal note and photo (not inside the donation envelope). Do not include: food or candy, toothpaste, used items, breakable items (glass, mirrors, ect), decks of standard playing cards, items that could leak, melt, or freeze(shampoo, creams, lip balm, ect), items that could scare or harm a child (war- related toys, knives, toy guns, ect). The last step is to donate 7$ per box. You can pay online at https://www.samaritanspurse.ca/ or either pay cash or check in the attached enveloped with your completed reply card. Students are asked to put the full boxes at the peace garden right inside of our front doors.
We know there are many financial demands at this time of year. We would sincerely like to thank you for any contribution you are able to donate. Thank you and God Bless.
