Senior Boys' GBSSA Champs!
The Jean Vanier Storm, senior boys soccer team successfully defended their GBSSA Championship title on Tuesday afternoon defeating Almaguin Highlanders S.S. in a close, intensely fought match.

Despite Vanier dominating the play and chances at goal early on, it was Almaguin who opened the scoring part way through the first half on a header from a corner kick putting them up 1-0. Minutes later, Jean Vanier's Cameron Conroy levelled the score with a blast from close range into the top corner after a scramble for the ball, just in front of the Highlander's goal.

The game stayed even through most of the second half with good scoring chances, some hard fought battles and strong play from both sides. With less than 3 minutes to go in regulation there was another scramble for the ball in front of the Almaguin goal. This time Vanier's Ricky Perepeluk found the back of the net with a very similar goal to the first one by Conroy. The Vanier team held on to capture their 3rd ever GBSSA Championship title in their school's history.

This victory ensures the Vanier squad of a birth at the OFSAA Championships next June 7-9 in Niagara Falls.
