Song of Solomon 2:12-13:
Spring flowers are in blossom all over. The whole world's a choir - and singing! Spring warblers are filling the forest with sweet arpeggios. Lilacs are exuberantly purple and perfumed, and cherry trees fragrant with blossoms. Oh, get up, dear friend, my fair and beautiful lover - come to me!

April is a time of new beginnings, and that rang especially true at Jean Vanier Catholic High School in Collingwood. From a spring fling semi-formal to a school-wide Easter egg hunt, this month was a busy one.

The month began with a “day of pink” to celebrate diversity- all proceeds going to humanitarian Jean Vanier’s l’Arche charity, a worldwide organisation which helps people with intellectual disabilities flourish.

Next was the rally to kick off Relay for Life. Relay for Life is a community event started by the Canadian Cancer Society to provide support for cancer patients, as well as raise funds for cancer research. Students from both Jean Vanier and Collingwood Collegiate Institute will band together in teams to raise funds, culminating in an all-day relay to promote the cause.

On April 12th, spring sprung at the semi-formal! Organised by Jean Vanier’s prom committee, the second dance of the year was a great success! Funds from the dance were donated to offset the costs of the upcoming senior prom.

Then came the Easter weekend, a special time for all. A traditional Easter mass was held, and the stations of the cross were reviewed. The music ministry performed various hymns in celebration of the Easter season. That same day, students were surprised with a chocolate egg hunt that sent them running through the halls, picking up any eggs they could find.

April is drawing to a close, but Jean Vanier remains busy as usual! Look forward to this year’s drama production “Price Check for Murder”, which hits the stage on Friday, May 10th.
